Zia Hyunsu Shin
Zia Shin is a violinist representing South Korea,
who has astounded the world through
her international accomplishments, without studying abroad.
In 2008, Zia Shin expanded her domestic and international career
by winning four prestigious awards
at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition,
which is a world-renown international classical music competition in France,
namely the “First Great Prize of Académie des Beaux-Arts,”
the “Prize of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France,”
the “Prize of the Prince Albert II of Monaco,”
as well as “Prize of the Students of the Paris Conservatories.”
While in the midst of over 100 global performances in Japan, all Asia,
and other foreign countries, Shin continued to challenge herself and
ultimately received the “Count de Launoit Prize (Third Place)”
at the 2012 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Belgium,
which is considered as one of the most
prestigious competitions for instrumentalists.
Starting 2012, Shin further showed her tenaciousness
by making an important decision to change her Korean name
from ‘Hyun Su Shin’ to ‘Zia Shin’ in order to make her name more easily
pronounceable for her international audiences
and with a global outreach in mind.

and upon graduating with honors from
both Jeonju Middle School and High School for the Arts.
In 2004, she was admitted early to Korea National University
of Arts Preparatory School as a music prodigy.
Since her elementary age,

at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall with pianist Akira Eguchi,
whom she had previously performed with on her very first classical album, “Passion.”

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's inauguration
celebration held at the UN General Assembly in New York.
She participated in the “Asian Games Concert: Music for Sports & Harmony”
hosted by UNESCO to celebrate the Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010.
Shin also performed the opening ceremony at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
In the same year, she was appointed as the ambassador for K-Classics in South Korea.
In addition to her performance at the eve of 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade,
in 2017, Shin performed the “The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto” in Beijing

Shin is praised to be quite extraordinary to have received multiple, internationally recognized awards without any foreign education.
In addition to receiving the “Grand Prize” at the 1st Annual Shinhan Music Award in 2009 and the “Talent Award of Korea” from the South Korean Government in 2010.
Shin has performed with numerous orchestras, including the following: The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) of Washington D.C. under Maestro Ivan Fischer; NHK Symphony Orchestra; Japan Philharmonic Orchestra; Tokyo Symphony; Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra; Nagoya Philharmonic; Sapporo Symphony; and New Japan Philharmonic.
